Cynthia started her bellydance dance training in the UK in 2000 before making several visits to Egypt over the last 10 years to train with master teachers of traditional folklore, classical and modern bellydance.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Education in 1994, she has gained a wealth of experience in the teaching profession throughout Sydney and London.
Combining this with extensive studies of Egyptian dance, Cynthia has become known for her knowledge, mastery of technique and and skill in both traditional folkloric and modern Egyptian Bellydance- taking a comprehensive approach when teaching, exploring all aspects of the dance including movement, rhythm, music, culture, history and performance skills. In 2010 she even took a group of her students to Cairo to attend The Nile Group Dance Festival.
Cynthia worked in London UK for 8 years teaching regular classes and workshops, undergoing continual training herself and becoming one of the most sought after teachers in Egyptian Folklore and modern Bellydance. In 2007, to further her credentials Cynthia completed the Ahlan Wa Sahlan 2007 Winter International Intensive Teachers Course organised by the Master Instructor Raqia Hassan in Cairo- one of only a handful of teachers throughout the UK that had achieved this.
In 2010 Cynthia founded The West London School of Oriental Dance bringing together some of the most qualified national and international teachers residing in London to teach all styles of traditional folklore, classical and modern bellydance from Egypt, Turkey and beyond. The school is still managed and directed by Cynthia today.
A popular instructor, Cynthia’s teaching method is clear, precise and dynamic, as well as patient and empathetic, with an aim to bring out the best in every student from the absolute beginner to the advanced professional. She regularly gave her students in London opportunities to perform at her seasonal
